Grown Up Lady!

In 58 minutes I will be THE ideal age! In my head anyway. You know the age you think you will "feel" like a grown up? Dream Guy? Check! Family? Check! House? Check! Career? Check! Check! A little more career than I bargained for and a little less children but I'm not finished yet, I hope, and I'm not one of those women (HA! I just called MYSELF that! Oh, I am SO 27!) who wants to be DONE by the time they're 30! Heck no! Not even close...Bucky is a little, okay a LOT, closer than I, actually!
Mandi will tell you I am funny when I'm sleepy, or at least I think I am! But, I think I'm getting too old to stay up this late when my girl has school tomorrow so I can't entertain you for long! However, I wanted to tell you that I truly HOPE that this will be my last blog without pictures! THAT may not be entirely true but this better be the last time I have the excuse of not having a CAMERA! Don't you all (all six of you?) agree with me? Thanks! Now I would tell you to email Bucky and bug him to get me one BUT, he doesn't check his email....SO, if you want to call and remind him, his number is 886-4141! HA! He would be very grateful for your help! Trust me! ;) Good Night!
P.S. I don't FEEL like a grown up and am pretty sure I never will! *sigh* It's quite nice!
P.P.S. Read Junie B. Jones to your kids if you don't already or to yourself if you don't have kids and you've never read them! HILARIOUS! I have to stop readign to wipe my tears. She. Cracks. Me. UP! Seriously, Good Night!

Taco Pie? Or something?

Okay, so I really like to cook, but nothing hard or with crazy ingredients that you can't get at the Marshall Wal-Mart. I like to eat more, actually I might not even like to cook that much, I just get so excited about eating that it makes it worth it! I feel like I make the SAME five things all the time and I get less and less excited about cooking because I never make anything new.....it's not THAT bad because I only cook for my poor family about once a week.
Monday-Bucky works late.....kid food....hot dogs, mac and cheese, etc...this doesn't count
Wednesday-I work late...Bucky usually feeds the kids breakfast...unless it's grillin' weather
Thursday-Dance!....my kids, the Sherman girls and I treat ourselves to one of the fine dining establishments in Carollton..McDonald's, Sonic, or Subway!
Friday-I was raised believing that you are supposed to go out to eat on Fridays! Golden Corral here we come! Just Kidding! I'll talk about that in another post!
Saturday-We're usually busy

That leaves Tuesday and Sunday! So, really it takes me like a month to make my same borring meals. BUT, tonight I made up a delicious kid friendly dinner. By the way, Bucky is working late ...again...AND I COOKED! I started looking on www.kraft.com for something different and easy ....I was missing something for everything I wanted to make so...I got creative..
You will need:
crescent rolls
1lb. turkey burger
1can mild ro-tel
1can tomato sauce
like 2 oz cream cheese
shredded colby jack
-Preheat oven to 400
-Brown meat and add rest of stuff, oh and I threw in some green onion and seaseoned the meat with a little cumin, chili powder and, of course, seasoning salt and garlic salt. I put that on everything!
-grease 9" pie pan, line with unrolled, crescent rolls, seal seams
-Fill with mixture, top with shredded cheese, bake for 18-20 min
Well more like 16 minutes..I couldn't wait!

Averi cleaned her plate (Never happens!) and Will said "Nummy!" the whole time he ate! I think they approved and I liked it too! Poor Bucky missed out!

5 to 15

"Talk to the booty 'cause the hand's off duty!!"-Thank you Hannah Montana's grandma for that great quote! My 5 YEAR OLD is very lucky she was not being told to do something OR getting in trouble when she busted this little saying out..TO HER MOTHER! Okay, it was hilarious and totally unexpected BUT, she probably shouldn't say that to me. While we're on the subject of Averi, not only is she mouthy beyond her years....she is a CLEPTO!!! Not even 24 hours after her "outburst" of her new fave quote, she took MY CELL PHONE to her friends house! WITHOUT ASKING! Yep, she stole my cell phone! She did get busted for that! I wouldn't have been so mad if I hadn't searched for it forever before it occurred to me that the little stinker had to have taken it!
Averi and I had been playing Horse-opoly for quite a while when Carleigh, our neighbor, and her dad stopped by to see if Averi could come up and play.......My mom called while they were here...I let here go...laid my phone next to me on the floor and......GONE! I changed a diaper, checked my email, loaded the dishwasher and decided to go out to my mom's to borrow the movie, Australia. (not a good choice) I thought Averi might like to go with me, SO, the search began..............
Me: Where's my phone????
Bucky: It's not right beside you?
Me: NOOOOOOO?
Bucky: You just had it...
Me: I KNOW! And now it's gone! Will you help me look so I can go get the movie?
Bucky: (very enthusiastic) yep!
So we're searching the house (with Will's help) and it hit me
Me:OH! MY! GOSH! Averi took my phone!
Bucky: no she didn't! don't blame her because you lost your phone
Me: She has it!
Bucky: No way!
So I took his phone, calling my phone, and went to Carleigh's...guess what I found? Two little giggle boxes hiding in Carleigh's room with a nice, new white Palm Centro! Can you believe her?

Girl Scouts Rock!

Guess what my whole family had for breakfast? Thin Mints! Yep! Thin Mints! Are you craving them yet? How about those yummy Carmel Delights? Peanut Butter sandwich and a glass of milk? OR Lemonades? My personal favorite! I ordered ALL of these but, back to the Lemonades. I LOVE shortbread, and Nancy's lemon cake! This is a perfect combination of both! They are so light and summery feeling and I don't feel guilty when I eat them because, hello? They are in the shape of a fruit!

For those of you who don't know about Nancy's lemon cake it is the best cake EVER! Mandi is my BFF and Nancy is my second Mom! (Mandi's Mom, thanks for sharing, Mandi! and Julie and Amy!) Anyway, I have gotten the privilege to eat dinner at Nancy's at least once a year since the sixth grade!........Mandi's BIRTHDAY! Which is coming up! She's older than me by the way! ;) Okay, let's be serious, I ate there every chance I got and still do!

I am off to share more t-shirt designs with the girls at High Maintenance, make some people beautiful and then I'm joining Curve's. .........There I said it, now maybe I'll go.....right after I finish this box of cookies!

T-shirts

The camera is MIA so...we're moving on! I will share my "bag" with you soon, but I have a small confession, I changed bags! Sorry, I am revamping for Spring.

I don't know if you've heard but High Maintenance has some great things going on! We now have a great Nail Tech, Mindy Schenk, from Carrolton, Mo! Amanda Neuman, our amazing Esthetician, who has been on maternity leave is back full time! And Estela Villatoro, now works with us, as a stylist! Estela moved home (Marshall) from Springfield, Mo where she worked in a well known Aveda salon, to get her Esthetician license in addition to her cosmetology license! Do you know what that means? We are FULL SERVICE!!! That's right! Any service you would like to receive on your hair, skin OR nails, WE can do it! In the same day at the same place! Watch out Marshall! For those of you that don't already know, there hasn't been a place like that in town before now! So, to add to the excitement, we decided to get t shirts for Spring! That's where I would appreciate YOUR help! I started designing some on Uberprints.com..and the possibilities are ENDLESS! And, of course when you have five women trying to decide on one style..umm...Please vote for your fav!

**Okay I tried to do a polldaddy but I can't upload pics from Uberprints so we'll have to do it this way**

1.Bright pink with yellow High Maintenance, diagonal in front in "punk" font
2. Kelly green with High Maintenance straight across the front, yellow in "space" font (smooth skinny lines with no corners) and the phone number on the back
3. White t with "I *heart* my hair"on front (think I *heart* NY, black writing, red heart)and High Maintenance and the phone number on back

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Any other suggestions would be great also! Thanks!

Bag Tag!

DUDE! The inside of my purse is like a trash can! Kari tagged me and she's gonna be SO grossed out! I can not believe that I am going to share with the public what is at the bottom of my HUGE bag. What can I say? I'm busy and my children and I like snacks! Anyway, Bucky keeps leaving the camera at work...you know, the "family" camera? the reason I don't "need" one? Because "WE" have one? That should also explain the lack of posts for the past couple of weeks. Sorry! I'll go get it from him tomorrow and share my CUTE goldish, silverish BIG Bag....and...whatever lurks below the zipper......

Your gonna Pee your Pants!

Okay, for the sake of laughter, I will share this deep, dark secret of mine. Since my pregnancy with Will, I have had this ugly redish, bruiseish, what may possibly be a varicose vein, someday, on my leg. Yuck! I know, sorry! But it's almost behind my knee so it could be worse. Anyway, when I'm on my feet a lot (haha) it hurts and swells and you get the idea! I guess I complain about it more than I thought. Or it could be that my five year old is just that observant....She got a rug burn on her calf the other night and, of course, was devastated! She came sprinting into the room screaming, "Mom, MOM! Look at this!"

Me: What is it?

Her: THIS!!!!

(She showed the rug burn)

Me: It looks like a ru....

Her: (interupting me) OOOOHHHHH MAN! Surely I'm not PREGNANT!

NEED vs. WANT

I NEED a camera!! I was using the camera on my iphone (which wasn't doing my kids justice) but I traded it! That's right, much to Kathy's dismay....It was a little overrated for my needs SO, I now have a white Palm Centro that I am in L-O-V-E with. It has lime green buttons and that could be the coolest part! Anyway, I need help....I want the camera to take the photo WHEN I push the button NOT five or more seconds later. I don't care if it fits in my purse. I'm not that "techy" so it has to be pretty self explanatory and I don't have a million dollars to spend on one! Any suggestions? Wait, I have been through three Kodak easyshares (lost one, broke one and returned one) and one Sony cybershot (loved it but it broke easily). So, aside from those, any suggestions? That is definitely a need! How can I have an entertaining blog without good pictures?
I tried to check some out on ebay and all I could think about was boots! I REALLY want a new pair of boots. A fun pair that I won't ride in but will wear to work. Sooo, I couldn't help myself! I searched! After looking at hundreds of pairs I got a little bored and decided to check some blogs that I regularly check and guess what..........I clicked over to Haute Cowgirl and Holly had posted three different pair of boots that she found on ebay! It's a sign!

Girls Day

Averi and I enjoyed a much needed "girls day" earlier this week! We did a little shopping and a little hard work on our best mutual friend, Vita Blue. She is sassy, just like us, and likes to look cute, just like us! None of the three of us were impressed with her appearance due to those yucky cock-a-burs. SO, Averi got the tough job of feeding the princess carrots and I combed and combed and pricked my fingers and found my gloves and combed some more! A short two hours later...see above photo...."not a total Betty but a vast improvement"-Clueless...After that we took advantage of "Mom's day off" and visited High Maintenance for a massage! Backs only though! We had other very important things to get to! (See bottom photo) We had time for one last stop before we headed to pick up the wild brother and get home to shower before Daddy got home. He claims to be allergic to horses. Averi and I like to call it fear but either way he insists we shower immediately upon entering the "homestead"!

Happy Birthday Meg!

Happy Happy Birthday Maegan!!!
"Meg" is my FUN LOVING, very care free, really good friend, fellow stylist who has been with me since the day High Maintenance opened!!!
One of my favorite stories Maegan tells is about the day I went to her school to introduce myself and tell them about the salon opening. She says I "came in there dressed like a city girl, thinkin' I was somethin'"! THAT cracks me up! Anyway, I guess she was talking about me the whole time saying how no one 's going to call me, well not her, for sure! .....She was the first to call! She claims she just did that so no one would get her job! We met at Mazzio's for her interview, she did a model, I hired her and I've loved her ever since! Since then we have outgrown our first location, eaten a lot of Mexican food, (not to mention Chinese and pizza), went on a cruise, had children, done A LOT of awesome hair and among other things, laughed our butts off! Thanks Maegan! I hope you have the best birthday ever and you know if you would have worked to day I WOULD have made you cupcakes!

YUMMY!

I have one thing to say, "Ahhhhh!" I LOVE Sundays!! Lots of people don't because they have to go back to work on Monday. Even those people get to enjoy this Sunday with me because most people are off tomorrow. Sundays, for me, usually mean... a happy heart form taking the fam to church, a clean house, full belly, and nothing mandatory that I have to do except maybe bathe some rugrats!
I made dinner for Bucky's parents tonight.....it was possibly the best meal I have ever made in my life! (They liked it too!) It was, are you ready for this? Crab and Parmesan Crusted Grouper!! I know! I can't believe it either! I am NOT a fish fan! I didn't eat it at all until I became a Coleman and my bossy father-in-law insisted that I would LOVE it they way HE fried it! I swear everyone that thinks they can fry fish thinks that! Anyway, I eat it when he cooks it. Needless to say I have never even wanted to try to cook fish in my own home and especially not to try and serve to anyone! However, I will be glad to have a shrimp or crawfish boil anytime and volunteer my house to stink for a month to get to eat that!
SO, the in-laws went to their place in Corpus to go deep sea fishing and it has sort of became a ritual that when they get home (usually with fresh shrimp) they share their "catch" and I cook it! This time it was grouper! What the?!?!? So, I did a little "homework" (haha, has anyone been watching The Bachelor?) and made dinner! Bucky's mom said, "Oh this is excellent! I would order this in a restaurant!" SCORE! I ate it too, and liked it! Don't worry I had ribs in the crock pot because I was sure the kids and I were not going to like it. It was very yummy! It had red, yellow and jalapeno peppers, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese and lots more I can't remember at the moment. I made sauteed whole green beans with portabellos and red onion and garlic bread. Are you hungry yet? This is probably the first and last time I will blog about food. I really like to cook but I like to eat even more so...if that means cooking first then so be it! I'm not one of those super moms that thinks ahead with great crock pot recipes. If you are and would like to share I'll cut your hair or something! ;) Just wanted to share my successful meal!

"The '72"

Isn't it beautiful? THIS, my friends, is what my husband spends most of his precious time doing! I sometimes give him a hard time when we have scheduling conflicts because I have "real people waiting on me"! He quickly reminds me that on the other side of that gigantic garage door there is a "real person" waiting on one of these prize possessions and most likely thinks IT is more important than any hair do or nail polish color. THAT is only a matter of opinion! BUT, It's funny how when we get busy we think that our obligations are more important than anyone elses. I am very thankful for my rewarding career and patient clients.....and for Bucky's patient customers who sometimes are forced to be more patient than mine! :)

Free Necklace!

Hi all! There is a super cute necklace on http://hollylane.blogspot.com She's giving it away and to enter all you have to do is comment on her blog before midnight tonight! You'll want to keep checking it, she's really funny! Happy Friday!

Thank you Kathy for the face lift! You're the best!

Two Minutes!

Ahhhh! 8:13PM! Grey's Anatomy is being TVo'd, Bucky is putting Will to bed and I have two minutes to myself to blog! I have thought of lots of things I want to blog about and have attempted to a few times today....but...no such luck! I did get some cute, crummy, pictures on my phone of my little darlings. Averi is waiting patiently and staring at me and tapping so...told ya! Two minutes! I promise to NOT bore you to death with my next post and there will be pictures! By the way this counts as NOT falling off the blog slacker wagon! Nite!

Yankee Doodle!

Just kidding! It's just Yankee! Averi gets mad when I call him that! I know I should wait until I have a picture of him with his "official" owner for his debut on the blog but I can't wait anymore! Actually I am just SO excited to have finally taken and transferred some pictures that I had to share! Averi went to the movies with my mom today and Will and I got our boots on and helped Papa pull cockaburs (is that how you spell that?) out of the pasture. They really mess up Vita Blue's hair! But don't worry we didn't do all that work without a little horse cuddlin'! Will actually likes him a lot! In the first pic he is trying to kiss him! He's such a lover! HA! And a stinker! AND, I guess I have to admit the kids aren't the ONLY ones who have fallen in love with the skinny, wormy, little thing! He has came a VERY long way since the night we brought him home and besides, he's cute! Speaking of bony ponies, you should check out this website. www.bonyponyranch.com It's not redneck, I promise! It's a no-profit ranch in Malibu that helps underprivileged kids. It's pretty neat and lots of celebrities go! What a great idea! You think Marshall needs one of those?.....?....?
